A healing path is to honor all the gifts of survival that helped those once survive their childhood pain. As human beings, we applaud those survival strengths and learn gradually to have more confidence. To be more loving, and be aware of our special humanness and capacity to slowly learn to take care of ourselves. And, to find a new balance in life. Self-discovery is an amazing journey. To shed all the burden of the past comes with knowing and love.

A remarkable thing happens to me when I walk outdoors barefoot. I feel the grass and earth beneath my feet. I wiggle my toes, notice the temperature and smell and colors of the grass. I can feel myself becoming connected with the earth and with nature. I realize I go back to more simple times of childhood. My body relaxes taking me to a place of feeling grounded. Such a simple tool. I often notice my anxiety goes away. I keep this as my secret way of relaxing me. The main thing about a lotus flower is that it has its root in the mud. It cannot grow without the mud, and yet its petals are pristine... The lotus flower doesn't turn mud into anything. Mud is mud. Yet mud also has nutrients needed to aid the flower's growth. It is the same for us. We are in a situation that we don't like - like in the mud. And yet it is probably the most secure position there is if we could only recognize it, not distort it, and let it "grow us." Inner Beauty: A Book of Virtues "Whenever I am faced with a challange, I sit quietly and meditate, asking for help to get out of my own way. I ask for the strength to do what I am here to do." By asking for guidance and sitting in silence, meditation and prayers are completely intertwined. By paying attention to my breath I am able to look for the quiet space inside. One flows into the other and creates a single spiritual experience. My foundation becomes unshakeable. |
