Each of us resembles a boat whose anchor, representing our unresolved past, hangs overboard in the unseen depths. Despite the throttle being thrown wide open, the boat can muster only limited forward movement because of the anchor's drag. Just as the anchor is an important part of the boat, we simply cannot just cut the line, any more than we can eliminate our past, which is a vital part of our being. Raising the anchor, which symbolizes past unseen conflicts, that we are able to bring on board, eliminates the drag, just as raising the anchor. Once we do so the boat is freed, we can fully dedicate our efforts to moving ahead. The boat moves forward. Our life moves forward in free and easy waters with no drag. Facing one's conflicts, engaging them, and emerging successfully and remarkably changed is lifting the anchor on the boat. Once we welcome change, it is not a lengthy process.
